About Crew Active
Crew Active brings shift planning and time tracking for field teams into one app, built for cleaning companies, landscapers, construction crews and winter services. The office plans the week in a drag and drop calendar, and workers clock in at the job site from their phone, with GPS proof of presence ready for any customer who asks.
The web app flags double bookings and weekly hour overruns, and recurring jobs can be set up as a series. The native iOS and Android apps work offline and sync once a connection returns. Location is recorded at start, break and stop, with the measured accuracy shown, rather than tracked continuously. Built-in chat with photos replaces scattered WhatsApp groups.
Key benefits:
- Drag and drop scheduling with warnings for double bookings and overtime
- GPS time tracking at clock in, break and clock out only
- Offline mobile apps for iOS and Android that sync later
- Team chat with photos and read receipts inside the same app
- Excel and PDF reports per employee and customer, plus a DATEV export
- Leave and sick days requested and recorded in the app
- Five app languages including Turkish and Romanian for mixed crews
Crew Active is run by run4dev, a business based in Regensburg, Germany, and has been developed there since 2021. Customer, employee and time data is stored with Hostinger in a data centre in Vilnius, Lithuania, and a data processing agreement is available. Some features rely on US providers: Google for maps, Expo for push notifications, and, where the optional AI assistant is enabled, OpenRouter and Together AI running an open model in the USA, with Anthropic as a backup.
There is no free plan. A one month trial for up to five employees needs no credit card and ends on its own, after which plans start at 69 euros a month for five staff.
Why choose Crew Active over Connecteam?
The decisive argument is data jurisdiction. Connecteam is headquartered in Israel, which means personal data processed through it can be subject to non-EU legal regimes: the US CLOUD Act, FISA 702, or similar laws depending on the provider. After the 2020 Schrems II ruling, EU organisations must carry out a transfer impact assessment for every such data flow.
Crew Active removes that overhead. As a Germany-based provider, it operates under EU GDPR, and data stays inside the EU/EEA by default. For regulated sectors such as health, public administration, and finance, that's not a nice-to-have but a requirement. For everyone else, it's concentration-risk insurance: you avoid depending on a single jurisdiction that can change the rules without warning.
